I was born in Sydney, Australia in 1974, moved to Melbourne at a young age where I grew up.
I have been interested in photography since I was a young kid, but spending 18 years in the Advertising and Graphic Design world after leaving school fueled my passion for photography. Being constantly surrounded by amazing imagery and being exposed to the professional side of image making inspired me to do more with my own photos.
Moved to London in 2000. Continued working in Advertising and Graphic Design and of course taking photos, but being self taught I decided after a few years that I would go back to University and further my study to assist in a career shift. This was a Post Graduate Diploma in Photography at the University of the Arts London, LCC. I managed to pass with a distinction. My history in work certainly gave me a fabulous grounding for my photography. I spent many years as a professional retoucher, manipulating imagery for various award winning agencies including Condé Nast retouching for Vogue, Brides & Traveller magazines.
Since then, I have predominantly been involved with fashion, beauty and portraiture. However, photography opportunities can come from odd sources sometimes and I have also been involved in all sorts of projects from still life and advertising to live music and architecture. Helmut Newton famously said, “I am a gun for hire” and despite most of my work being people based, I share his sentiment and take a challenge on with both hands.
One thing is for certain, my passion for photography is certainly not decreasing. I am often asked what my favourite shot I have taken is. My reply is that I haven’t taken it yet. The next image is always the most important one. Each image wants to be better than the last.
