I was out taking some test shots for a photography project I am doing at the moment and I came across the Centre Point building right in the heart of London at the corner of Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road. For that part of town, apart from the BT transmission tower, it’s far taller than pretty much everything. On one hand it’s a bit of an eyesore, but on the other hand, I kinda like it in an odd way. Like taking a shining to the runt of a litter. I once bought a goldfish based on the fact that it was far and away the ugliest one on offer.
So, what do you think? Architectural masterpiece, or scar on the London skyline?

An icon. Leave it alone

it’s a thing of beauty man!
speaking as an eyesore myself this is easy to say but…..in this world where the media perpetuate ‘what is normal’ and ‘conforming’ becomes the ‘norming’ then things, people and objects or in this case a building that stand out as different deserve praise and admiration and love and attention.
What was the fishes name?

I quite like goldfish, especially on a tasty bed of brown rice and with a nice glass of Chianti.
The tower, She’s ugly… I used to work near it / see it every day. You can keep it.

I don’t know whether its and eyesore or a masterpiece, but either way it’s been a saving grace for me on drunken nights out… I get my nightbus home from right next to it, and when I’m feeling a little worse for wear and no longer know my right from my left at 4 in the morning Centrepoint is like a shining beacon in the sky guiding me home, I just look up and stumble in its direction, that way I can’t get lost… I’m not quite sure what i’d do without it.

I´m no artist, but what i see is good however, if you were to darken the edges by having longer exposure(i think) then that in my opinion, who make it greatter depth of field which can give it a 3D effect that´s more invitive. But I´m barly a beginner if that.
